MYNET ENTERS THE KINGDOM OF CINEMA. THE CINEMA INDUSTRY IS INCREASINGLY DIGITALIZING

New partnership between the operator in the top 5 national ranking for ultra-fast connectivity and one of the top 5 multiplexes in Italy in terms of attendance

With almost 800 thousand spectators in 2023, Oz returns to pre-Covid levels

Brescia, April 29, 2024. Oz, the largest cinema in Brescia and one of the top 5 multiplexes in Italy in terms of number of spectators, is increasingly digital and has chosen Mynet as a partner in this transformation, a leading operator in fiber optic connectivity (in the top 5 among national players) and strongly rooted in the Brescia area.

Mynet and Il Regno del Cinema - the group that has about thirty theaters in the cities of Milan, Crema and Brescia where it manages the Oz cinema, the Moretto, recently inaugurated, and the Sociale - have entered into a three-year partnership that includes, on the one hand, the supply of connectivity services to Oz, on the other, will allow Mynet to land on the big screen for 6 months, with the screening of its own commercial in the ten theaters.

An initiative that will optimize business processes, as Renato Scarvaci, Head of Sale del Regno del Cinema, explains.

“The film industry has experienced a very strong acceleration in the digitalization process. Today, films arrive in digital format with an external hard disk, via satellite or via the network, and, in the latter case, it is essential to have a high-performance line available because the average weight of a film is between 150 and 200 Giga, with cases, such as the sequel to Avatar, up to 400 Giga. To transfer files of this size, a fiber connection is essential. With Mynet we have increased download speed tenfold, freeing up time and resources dedicated to these operations. Furthermore, high-quality connectivity is functional for the use of our app, a service increasingly requested by customers for purchasing tickets. We will certainly intensify the collaboration by connecting other of our structures”.

As mentioned, the Oz multiplex is among the top 5 on the Peninsula in terms of number of spectators: “in 2023 – adds Scarvaci – we recorded almost 800 thousand spectators, a number that brings us back to pre-Covid levels. The pandemic has given a boost to our sector, which, however, has been able to resist, get back up and innovate.”

As for trends, going to the cinema is confirmed as a particularly appreciated experience, even if the lion's share is made by the services: “Today a film can be seen practically anywhere, so the real difference lies in the services offered: the Oz has undergone a major restyling intervention with the replacement of all the seats and interior furnishings, and the improvement of the app, where 1 in 3 tickets of the total is purchased, an average much higher than the national one”.

“We put ourselves at the service of the big screen, one of the most important and revolutionary inventions in recent history, which is currently experiencing a profound transition phase but whose social and cultural importance is unanimously recognized,” says Giovanni Zorzoni, General Manager of Mynet.

“We have been present in the Brescia area for years, with significant and continuous investments in our infrastructure network. With this initiative we want to confirm our closeness to the area and its business network,” concludes Giorgio Intonti, Sales Manager of Mynet.
