MYNET AND LUGMAN PROTAGONISTS AT THE GONZAGA ELECTRONICS FAIR: A WEEKEND FULL OF DEBATES, PRACTICAL TESTS AND DEMONSTRATIONS
MANTUA – Also this year Mynet and LUGMan – Linux Users Group Mantova are participating in tandem in the spring edition of the Gonzaga Electronics and Radio Amateur Fair, scheduled for March 26 and 27 at the fairgrounds, with a packed calendar of events dedicated to enthusiasts and experts in IT and telecommunications.

At the LUGMan information point (pavilion 4, stand 6) throughout the weekend, members will present a wide selection of free software, from the Linux Operating System and its distributions, to solutions for the office, graphics, design and video editing; during the event, a local network will also be created to experiment with some interesting solutions for teaching. Visitors to the fair will have the opportunity to test the software presented, obtain copies, collect instructions on how to recover them or have them installed directly on their PC; they will also be able to take part in micro-talks (technical insights of 15 minutes each) organized by members.

On Saturday 26th in the morning from 9:30 the association will host a group of students from the scientific high school “Belfiore” of Mantua for a theoretical-practical lesson dedicated to Raspberry: after a quick introduction dedicated to the characteristics of this mini-computer, the kids will be invited to familiarize themselves with the basic commands of the Linux terminal and guided in the installation of one or more applications. The practical part, instead, will see the young people engaged in the creation of a new video game using the Scratch programming language: once they have “explored” the development environment, they will be able to complete the project in total autonomy with the help of the LUGMan tutors.

On the afternoon of Sunday 27th at the Mynet stand (pavilion 4, stand 7) there will be a special DJ set based on the exclusive use of free and open source software. The meeting will be presented by Giovanni Zorzoni, General Manager of MyNet and LUGMan member, who will mix music selected by himself.

At the fair there will also be some students from the high school “E. Fermi” of Mantua with their own stand where they will present various projects created during their school career: among others, you can see a vending machine, a robotic arm, small robots of different types, a simple plotter, a webcam that follows faces, a model of a mobile wall-e, objects and models created by students in the mechanical sector and alchemies prepared by the students in the chemical area.

The fair will be open to the public on Saturday and Sunday from 8:30 to 18:00. To register for the meetings proposed by LUGMan during the Gonzaga kermesse and to find out more about all the events organized by the association: https://lugman.org/ or info@lugman.org
