IN CASTELLARO THE NEW FREE PUBLIC WI-FI

6 wi-fi points have been activated that can serve, simultaneously, over 3 thousand users. The intervention was strongly desired by the Municipal Administration of Monzambano.

Castellaro Lagusello (Monzambano, July 12, 2024). In Castellaro, one of the Most Beautiful Villages in Italy and a World Heritage Site with its archaeological site of Fondo Tacoli, the new free public wi-fi network debuts, strongly desired by the municipal administration and created by the telecommunications company Mynet.

In fact, the extension works of the fiber optic network serving the new six wi-fi points, each powered by 1 Giga of bandwidth (located in Piazza Generale Orlandi, Via Castello, at the intersection between Via Lazzareto and Via Bastiglia, in the gardens and in the area adjacent to the votive shrine, in the Borgo Antico area, in the external square of Villa Arrighi) were concluded at the beginning of June, with a lightning intervention with minimal impact.

In addition to allowing the entire historic center to be covered by fiber, the initiative allows for the development, in the future, of additional "smart" services, such as video surveillance, environmental control units and latest-generation devices.

"With the new public wi-fi we are putting an end to a problem that has been dragging on for years - explains the mayor of Monzambano Giorgio Cappa - in the hamlet of Castellaro, in fact, the coverage of telephone operators is almost non-existent, with unreliable and discontinuous connectivity that causes significant inconvenience to the 400 residents and the many tourists, about 600 visitors every Saturday and Sunday, most of whom are foreigners, who crowd the village on weekends. Furthermore, the lack of a line has so far made the use of POS unreliable during events and demonstrations, forcing us to install temporary wi-fi points to allow the stands to be serviced. From today, the problem is solved and we are able to offer a quality welcome".

“Each of the 6 access points, which can connect up to 512 users at the same time, for a potential total of over 3,000 people, provides connectivity with an upload and download speed of 10 megabits per second – explains Davide Zavanella, head of the Smart City Area of Mynet – This bandwidth limit, which was specifically designed to prevent anyone from taking advantage of it to the detriment of other potential users, still allows, to give an idea, to make live broadcasts in high resolution or the streaming of a match or a film in HD. We are proud to have contributed to increasing the services available to the community and its visitors”.

Mynet’s presence is not new to Castellaro. This year too, in fact, the company guaranteed its technical sponsorship to the Astronomy Festival, held last June, bringing connectivity to the various points of the event. “This edition – says Omar Vacchelli, head of the Infrastructure department of Mynet – was based on multisensoriality to allow the enjoyment of the activities also to people with disabilities. The line was therefore fundamental and it was the opportunity to make an intervention that was decisive".
