AFTER MYNET INTERVENTION THE MARTELLI IS HI-TECH
09/11/2024
The work at the stadium covered various areas of connectivity, video surveillance, wi-fi and IoT, involving the telecommunications company's best skills
Mantua, 10 September 2024. Mynet, the historic telecommunications company, has played a leading role in the adaptation of the Martelli stadium for Serie B, confirming itself as top sponsor of the red and white club.
This morning, in the stadium press room, the presentation of the renewed partnership between Mynet and Mantova 1911 took place: an occasion to present the digitalisation intervention of the structure in which the telecommunications company specialising in fibre optics has invested considerable resources.
After an articulated planning of the intervention and the involvement of Mynet's best skills, the work was carried out in record time between May and July. A composite team of specialised technicians carried out massive renovations of the stadium's existing telecommunications infrastructure: video surveillance, wi-fi, connectivity, and remote management of the new lighting and irrigation systems. Fundamental pillars to guarantee the stadium's full operation and maximum security.
‘We started the first works in May in order to realise a complete project that complied with the new requirements,’ explained Mynet General Manager Giovanni Zorzoni, ’by deploying the best in-house skills with a team of 15 technicians specialised in applied digital and IoT. The intervention required three weeks of planning and two months of work on the stadium, which was completed at the end of July. A lightning construction site, in record time, marked by maximum operational flexibility and confirming our nature as an Italian telecommunications operator, but also as a true digital factory, i.e. an ICT company that integrates various innovative digital technologies and information systems. For the type of technology used in this project, we can speak of a Serie A stadium. It is always a great satisfaction to be able to be a digital link in the world revolving around the city of Mantova and to be a partner of Mantova 1911'.
Alessandro Raffa, Mantova 1911's director of operations, added: ’Teamwork is a fundamental element not only when on the pitch, but also in the work that is done off the pitch, away from the spotlight. It was precisely the team game that allowed Mantova to play in the Serie B championship from the very first day at the Martelli stadium. A victory that saw many protagonists. It is to all of them that we say thank you'.
We go into detail about the work carried out at the stadium. The work involved the construction of two fibre optic rings, one outside and one inside the playing field area, as explained by Michele Lucchini, Special Projects Manager at Mynet.
‘The external network serves to remotely manage the new lighting towers, operate the big screen and the turnstiles equipped with cameras, and allows for an expansion of the wi-fi service in the common areas of the sports facility, such as the locker rooms and the press box, as well as serving the new video surveillance system. The fibre optic ring laid instead inside the perimeter of the playing area,' added Lucchini, ’is functional in part to the video surveillance system, and in part to the management of the ledwalls for the sidelines, the Var and the management of the new irrigation system.
The subject of video surveillance deserves a separate chapter: ‘We have doubled the number of cameras, which have gone from 12 to 24, all in very high resolution at 4K,’ explained Smart City Projects Manager Davide Zavanella. ‘Four cameras have been installed on the edge of the pitch, again in very high resolution, of the latest generation, which can also be remotely controlled both vertically and horizontally for almost 360°. Eight other pre-existing video surveillance devices were fixed, cleaned and updated, in the conviction that what can be salvaged, should always be fixed and kept’.
