FREE WI-FI ARRIVES IN CAMPARADA WITH MYNET

CAMPARADA (MONZA E BRIANZA) – The installation work for the new wi-fi network of the Municipality of Camparada was completed a few days ago. Twelve hotspots, indoors and outdoors, in five of the most popular locations in the town, will provide access to free wi-fi with 1 Gigabit/s of total bandwidth available: these are the main numbers of the project, created by Mynet and financed under the WiFi4EU community call with the aim of increasing connection opportunities for the town's inhabitants.

The town hall square and, inside, the council chamber, an important place of discussion for local political life, are entirely covered by the service. Particular attention was also paid to the civic center of Viale Brianza, the outdoor area in front of the post office and, not far away, the waiting room of the clinic, served by two powerful access points for users. Finally, the premises of the Civil Protection in Via Colombo, the nearby primary school "G. Parini”, equipped with a double access point in the teachers’ room and in the gym, and the Viale Lombardia gardens area with equipment placed on poles next to the SP 177.

The installed wireless points are already fully operational and are all connected to the Mynet pure fiber optic network to provide the best possible performance. The registration procedure is very quick, which citizens can complete independently in less than twenty seconds. To use the connection, users simply have to connect to the WiFi4EU network and register by entering their telephone number; the registration remains active for 24 hours and can be renewed every day.

At the moment the streets that have access to the Mynet optical infrastructure are: Via Cabella, Viale Lombardia (SP 177), Viale Brianza, Via Colombo, Via Resegone (SP177), Via Cappelletta and Viale Grigna (California). Here the service reserved for private users guarantees a web browsing speed of up to 1 Gbit/s, making smart working, distance learning, very low latency gaming and high-resolution streaming fully accessible.

Thus the Mayor of Camparada, Mariangela Beretta: «In 2019, the year my Administration took office, our municipal territory was unfortunately still included in the so-called “white zones”, areas for which no investment was planned or foreseeable by the managers (because it was absolutely not profitable) in high-speed networks for at least the following three years: a situation that was no longer sustainable and risked widening the so-called digital divide with other realities and, above all, generating a progressive and negative exclusion of all of us and all of our activities from the socio-economic and cultural advantages deriving from fast internet. Demonstrating that it is not a “white area”: the “challenge”, through municipal investments, was accepted in the first half of 2020 by the Mynet company. The result is - continues Beretta - a fiber backbone that reaches all the ends of the municipal territory and is available to all residents, these days also through the free WiFi4EU hotspots in the most frequented buildings and public areas created thanks to the contribution of the European Union. A bet that has been won today and that lays the technological foundations for all the future challenges of our territory".
