MYNET AND PUNTO COM GROUP: AN ALL-ITALIAN PARTNERSHIP FOR THE FUTURE OF FIBER AND CLOUD

When two local realities choose to collaborate by combining their peculiar specialisations, the result is concrete innovation at the service of that specific territory.

This is what happens with the partnership signed between Mynet - a national operator with more than 32,000 km of proprietary fibre optics and a strong presence in Brescia and its province - and Punto Com Group - a company from Cazzago San Martino specialising in IT services and artificial intelligence solutions, which recently inaugurated Punto Com #1, the largest edge computing datacentre in the province of Brescia (there are less than 10 throughout the territory), with a power of 400 kilowatts (the unit of measurement used for data processing centres).

The new infrastructure, thanks to the high-performance connectivity brought by Mynet, will be able to serve up to 3,000 companies in Brescia, ranging from SMEs to the largest industrial concerns.

The edge data centre is a ‘proximity’ IT architecture in which data processing takes place as close as possible to the end users, in this case the client companies, rather than in a centralised data centre, thus enabling faster data processing. In addition, Mynet has directly connected the new datacentre to its ultra-fast network: a strategic choice that guarantees customers a stable and fast connection with high and continuous performance.

‘The decision to collaborate with Punto Com Group fits perfectly with our mission: to directly and efficiently connect edge data centres to the core of our proprietary network, guaranteeing high performance thanks to the total control we have over our infrastructure,’ declares Giovanni Zorzoni, General Manager of Mynet.

‘This was an important investment for us,’ explains Mauro Quaini, CEO of Punto Com Group. ’It is an AI data centre, i.e. an advanced information infrastructure designed to handle the high computing requirements needed for artificial intelligence applications, to meet current market needs. It was built entirely on site, with modern, high-performance infrastructures designed to support digital services based precisely on AI, thus guaranteeing customers reliability, speed and security. Thanks to the connection of Mynet, we will finally be able to bring users closer to the most advanced technologies of today and tomorrow by connecting the needs of customers with a unique technological hub at the forefront of today's and tomorrow's challenges in the field of computing capacity, data storage and security, and guaranteeing the security of the information stored and processed within the data centre'.

In Italy there are currently 153 data centres, mainly concentrated in the North, primarily in Milan, followed by Rome. The figure places us fourth in Europe, and demand is growing steadily, driven by cloud computing and AI.

‘In a sector, that of telecommunications, where the focus on quarterly trends often prevails over the quality of services to its customers, Punto Com Group and Mynet represent a positive exception: two specialised companies, each a leader in its field, on the one hand cutting-edge technologies in the field of artificial intelligence and advanced systems services, and on the other highly reliable and diversified fibre optic connectivity services, working together to offer the territory highly integrated and innovative solutions,’ adds Zorzoni.

‘What brought us together was the shared conviction that the best solutions come from those who know their profession and field of specialisation well and are not afraid to invest in the territory. The result is a hyper-connected data centre designed to last, capable of responding precisely to the needs of local businesses, with solutions based on artificial intelligence that are fast, reliable and easy to use,' Zorzoni and Quaini conclude.

Two companies with a high local vocation, two different but complementary skills, a single objective: to bring real, measurable and lasting innovation to the area, doing what they do best.
